BIG BERTHA'S TOWING GOES MADD!
Big Bertha's Towing of Coeburn, Virginia announced today that it
will join the fight against alcohol and drug impaired driving by
making contributions from company proceeds earned from
vehicle towing and impound charges resulting from these
arrests.
Owner Thomas Whitman of Coeburn said: "We've been called to
accident scenes by the Coeburn Police Department, The Wise
County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police many times
and watched the rescue efforts of the Coeburn Fire Department
and local Rescue Squads as they cut people out of wrecked
vehicles and try to save the lives of innocent victims of alcohol
and drug impaired driving accidents. These accidents have killed
thousands on our nations highways and all of them can be
prevented. We will do our share by contributing to the MADD
(Mothers Against Drunk Driving) programs on a statewide level
so that these tragedies may be prevented.
As a towing company, Big Bertha's Towing is on the front lines of
the war against alcohol and drug impaired accidents. We and
the professional agencies here will strive to cut down the
number of alcohol and drug related driving incidents by helping
to fund advertising, research, and law enforcement programs
that will impact the nations fight against this senseless carnage."
With that, Big Bertha's Towing made its first contribution toward
the program by allocation a generous portion of the income
derived from vehicle impounds and towing of alcohol and drug
impaired arrests. Adding: "We hope our efforts produce positive
results and may influence other towing companies to consider
similar internal donation programs to MADD."
